Purpose:

Transform the fire- training tower into an artist’s in-residence studio for the art’s council of Baton Rouge

 

Project:

Using a traditional approach to the layout and functions of each floor, the tower will become a welcoming environment at which anyone would find comfortable for a period of time. Combining the interventions of juxtaposition and wrapping, square footage is maximized in air space outside of the tower. This tower will draw different artists in to live and work, while experiencing the culture Baton Rouge has to offer them. The dynamic spaces that will be created are outdoors and allow for natural lighting to take a main focus of the design. Creating unique nooks within these limited spaces allows for artist’s to move about and create where they feel inclined. The fire tower will once again shine with teachings, but this time for art.
